The Workforce Development unit at the Community College of Philadelphia seeks part-time instructors with experience teaching adult learners in Manufacturing Print Reading. Ideal candidates will bring a strong background in machining, welding, industrial maintenance, or related technical fields, along with proven expertise in delivering engaging, practical, and industry-aligned training. These courses prepare students to interpret and apply manufacturing prints, including drawing formats, projections, dimensions, tolerances, symbols, and applied shop-floor communication. Classes may be offered during daytime and/or evening hours at the Community College of Philadelphia.

Workforce Development provides noncredit education to businesses, organizations, and individuals wishing to enhance their skills and meet professional goals. We offer a comprehensive menu of high-quality continuing education and career-training programs delivered by expert faculty and staff.

Teaching faculty are an integral part of the larger Academic and Student Success Division at CCP including Workforce Development or Career Training. The Academic and Student Success Division is a community of learners committed to student success as demonstrated through equitable and measurable outcomes, innovative practices, relevant curriculum, quality learning, and a rewarding student experience.   • Instruction: Teach print reading skills for manufacturing and industrial contexts. Provide applied instruction in reading and interpreting technical drawings, projections, dimensions and tolerances, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and related industry standards.

  • Curriculum Delivery: Teach assigned modules and applied learning projects following approved course descriptions and syllabi, ensuring alignment with industry standards and student learning outcomes.

  • Documentation & Assessment: Document student attendance, monitor performance, and evaluate progress through quizzes, projects, and final assessments. Maintain accurate records of student competencies.

  • Applied Learning: Facilitate hands-on interpretation of manufacturing prints, weld symbols, CNC machining tolerances, and industrial maintenance schematics, preparing students for practical application in the workplace.

  • Commitment to Mission: Demonstrate a sense of connection and responsibility for helping the College achieve success through a commitment to its mission, vision, and values.

  • Technology Integration: Utilize instructional technology, simulation tools, and digital platforms to enhance the learning experience and reinforce applied interpretation.

  • Collaboration & Leadership: Communicate effectively, foster collaboration, and inspire students and colleagues to achieve program and college success. Proactively identify and address challenges in academic and applied learning contexts.

  • Inclusive Practices: Establish an inclusive classroom environment. Demonstrate an understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of the College’s faculty, staff, and students.

  • Student-Centered Learning: Manage the learning environment with a student-centered focus. Implement diverse teaching and learning strategies that accommodate varied learning styles and promote student engagement.

  • Teaching Excellence: Strive for excellence in teaching by applying best practices in technical education, modeling professional standards, and encouraging student success, persistence, and retention. Advocate for the unique needs and well-being of students.


  • Minimum three (3) years of recent professional experience in manufacturing, welding, CNC machining, or industrial maintenance.

  • Strong technical knowledge of print reading standards (ANSI, ISO, ASME) and applications such as GD&T, weld symbols, and shop drawings.

  • Experience teaching, training, or mentoring adult learners in technical or workplace settings.

  • Strong communication, facilitation, and learner engagement skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to use instructional technology and support student learning.


  • Industry-recognized credentials such as AWS (welding), NIMS (machining), or MSSC/ISA (maintenance & industrial systems).

  • Prior teaching or training experience in manufacturing or technical education programs.

  • Experience interpreting prints for CNC machining, welding fabrication, or industrial maintenance systems.

  • Familiarity with GD&T applications in inspection and quality control.

  • Experience supporting diverse learners and implementing inclusive teaching strategies.

  • Bilingual or multilingual proficiency.
